US President Donald Trump on Thursday scoffed at the Oscar-winning “Best Picture” in history for the Korean film “Parasit”, telling a campaign demonstration that he wished for the return of classic Hollywood. “Gone with the Wind.”
“Parasite,” a dark social satire on the rich and poor in modern Seoul earlier this month, became the first Hollywood non-English-language film to win the Hollywood Award. It also won three other Oscar nominations, the best director and original film for Bong Joon Ho and the best international film.
How bad was this year’s Academy Awards? Asked Trump at a rally in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Imitating the presenter of the Academy Awards, he said, “And the winner is a film from South Korea.
What the hell? We have enough problems with South Korea with trade. And after that, they give them the best movie of the year? “Trump added.
